CHARLES WEED & LOUISE CAMILLE FENNE
  FOREWORD

This duet is made up of two distinct voices…each with their own song and instrument. Yet their harmonies are similarly soulful, classical compositions of form and beauty. While each work is an individual accomplishment, these painters compliment each other in art as they do in life.

Charles Weed led a somewhat nomadic existence as a young man, moving back and forth between Europe and the United States. Born in 1970, he received his first drawing instruction in his native Minneapolis. But staying in one location for more than six months to a year did not seem to hold much interest for the young painter. After studying in Florence, he was back in the States for a brief spell. He then toured England and Italy to paint landscapes. In 1995, he returned to Florence to teach and that is where he would meet a young painter with whom he would begin another kind of journey.

Her story began in Copenhagen in 1972. After finishing high school, Louise Camille Fenne traveled from Denmark to Aix-en-Provence in France for a year of private study in painting and drawing. Returning to Copenhagen she continued her training there for a time, until in 1995 she decided to go to Italy. So it was in that magical renaissance city, at the Florence Academy of Art, that she met Charles Weed and though of differing temperaments they would find in each other both an artistic and life partner.

Their traveling days were not quite over however, as they eventually left Florence for Amsterdam. Followed by a year spent in the enchanting city of Lucca, they finally settled in Svendborg, Denmark where they live today in an idyllic farmhouse with their children.
