GLENN HARRINGTON
  FOREWORD

Eleanor Ettinger Gallery is very proud to present the beguiling work of Glenn Harrington in this, his fourth solo exhibition. There is a distinct harmony that he infuses in every aspect of his work. In palette, composition and brushwork the artist constructs a natural, easy balance. His paintings are without angst or tension; nevertheless they possess a dramatic impact and striking presence. While the people he paints are often depicted singly, they are never alone. His subjects, frequently adrift in their reveries, are comfortable with the companionship of their surroundings.

Mr. Harrington attended Pratt Institute in New York, and upon graduation in 1981, he began his career in illustration and painting. He has received numerous awards, among them the Grand Prize from the Portrait Society of America, as well as commendations from the Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts, The Art Director's Club and the Society of Publication Designers. His original paintings have appeared in museums and galleries nationwide including the Museum of American Illustration in New York, the Norman Rockwell Museum in Massachusetts, the USGA Museum in New Jersey, the Jack Nicklaus Museum in Ohio, the Gibbes Art Museum in South Carolina and the Art Institutes in Houston, Dallas and Miami.
